                                         CARETAKER'S WANTED FOR 1930's GUESTHOUSE

Opportunity to live and play on Northern Vancouver Island! Bed & Breakfast managers required in Sayward, B.C. 1930's farmhouse in the heart of the Sayward Valley. The home is situated on the river's edge surrounded by 32 acres of forest and meadow. There are also camp sites and R.V. sites being developed on the property. Birch , a golden retriever cross and Zelda, a hungarian hunting dog cross live at the farm too.

This job would require two people as someone should be onsite at all times. The guesthouse opened in 2016 and has been enjoyed by many guests from nearby and many countries abroad. Most guests travel to the area to experience the remote beauty and unique experiences of Northern Vancouver Island; from hiking, fishing, kayaking, whale and wildlife watching to skiing at Mt Cain in winter time. It is also a convenient stop on the way to Telegraph Cove and Port Hardy. The sucessful candidates would benefit from experience living in remote areas, however the large town of Campbell River is less than an hour away.  Experience with large native wild animals species would also be an advantage as there are bears, elk and occasionally cougar in the valley. Extensive fishing on both Johnstone Straight and on the Salmon River, which flows past the lawn infront of the house, will be a highlight. We have various watercraft available for guests to use so confidence on the water would be an asset. The success of the business would depend on a sucessful colaboration between the owners and the managers, working on promotion, maintaining a high standard and aiming for satisfied guests reccomending the guest house to their friends and families.

In exchange for the day-to-day operation of the guesthouse, including bookings, breakfast preparation, room turnovers, general housekeeping, property maintenance and care of Birch and Zelda the managers would live in the house with utilities included and keep a percentage of the guesthouse revenue.

Providing evening meals and lunches would be an opportunity for the managers to generate extra income for themselves. As would be guiding for hiking, fishing or kayaking.

The position is available from October 15th 2019. Come fulfill your dream of living in Vancouver Island's beautiful north!
